Linus Lohoff takes portrait, object, and still life photography. Many of his objects and still lives utilize bright, colorful backgrounds that contrast and sometimes even match the objects. 3. Philosophy: (5 sentences. What were the major ideas behind this artist’s work? Were they personal, political, social, etc. What were they trying to “say” with their photographs?)
Many of Lohoff’s portraits evoke a feeling of sadness and grief. I think he is trying to tell us that bad things do happen, but we can move on. Many of his still lives are creative and can even be funny in a way. I think he is trying to make us see how beautiful everyday objects are. He’s also showing us how we can play with objects to completely alter their meaning.
4. Influences: (5 sentences. How has the photographer influenced you in your work?)
Linus Lohoff has influenced my work greatly. It is almost as if he has changed the way I see the world of photography. I now see how my photographs will change if I move just the smallest thing. I am also more creative with my photographs. I use different objects and put them together to create something new. I am able to use objects differently to evoke different emotions.

6. Compare and Contrast: You will need to compare and contrast your final 3 images with the 3 images you choose by your photographer. Write about each piece (5 sentence.)
My final images are very similar to Linus Lohoff’s. I must say that his are better just because I didn’t have the right backgrounds so I edited them in which looks less realistic. I really liked how the cheese and string one that I made (titled Mouse Trap) turned out. I think that out of all of them, this one turned out the best. The banana one (titled Sliced) was very difficult to create. The Pineapple one (titled Floating Fruit) was very fun to create because I got to experiment with the placement of the balloon and pineapple.
7. Personal Artist Statement: Your images should tell a story. In 5 sentences tell me about your images. Use the Composition 101, Elements and Principles and 10 Rules of Photography vocabulary.
Floating Fruit: This image represents freedom and experimentation. I had a lot of fun experimenting with this even though I was trying to make it look the same as the original photo. The balloon under the pineapple head made me feel like it was floating. The rule of thirds was used well in this photo because there was something interesting at most of the four points.
Sliced: This image represents fun and games. I had fun with this image because I was able to cut the banana to make it appear like the original image. This reminds me of playing a game that ends badly. The rule of thirds was also used pretty well in this image because there is something interesting in a few of the points. This also uses a good viewpoint because it is more interesting than an image from straight above.
Mouse Trap: This image represents cleverness and mischievousness. It reminds me of a mouse trying to get the cheese from a mousetrap without getting caught. I really liked this one because it was fun to set it up. I liked altering the position of the string slightly to change to overall image. I really liked trying to recreate this one because I had a challenge cutting the cheese correctly.
